Mumbai, Kajol, who is busy shooting for her friend Karan Johar’s upcoming film “My Name Is Khan”, will not be a part of her actor husband Ajay Devgan’s new directorial venture. “I’m directing a film in mid-2009. There is no role for Kajol in my next film. The leading lady’s role in that film doesn’t suit her,” Devgan told IANS.
His directorial debut “U Me Aur Hum” was critically praised for its brave portrayal of the ravages of Alzheimer’s.
Devgan, who has not done an action film for long now, said: “My next film as a director would be an action film with an undercurrent of dark humour. Even Milan Luthria’s film that I’m acting in is an action film. I believe audiences want to see me back in action. In fact when I made my entry balanced between two speeding cars in ‘Golmaal Returns’ people immediately remembered my entry in my first film ‘Phool Aur Kante’. The action in my directorial venture will be something unusual.”
Recalling how he broke many of his bones while performing stunts, the actor said: “Action scenes have become much safer now. Earlier we had to do it all by ourselves. Now when you jump from the fifth floor you’re harnessed. Earlier you just did it, or didn’t.”
He also complained of the stories being made out of his bonding with actor Salman Khan. The two actors recently completed shooting for Vipul Shah’s “London Dreams” in which Devgan plays a musician.
“We always have been friends ever since we did ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ together. But we didn’t go out partying and pubbing every night together, as was reported. And he didn’t present me with any paintings. Where did that come from? I’m right now neck-deep in producing my next film and putting together my next directorial venture,” Devgan said.
Devgan, who altered his looks for “London Dreams”, said: “I needed to look cooler. So I cut my hair, grew a stubble. Salman and I play very close friends, so naturally we had to have a certain amount of bonding between us. But that’s it. What I really enjoyed was shooting in London at one go. No distractions. Vipul is one of the most organised filmmakers I’ve worked with. And I didn’t get much of a chance to miss my family. Kajol and my daughter came for a visit.”

Aamir Khan should be home minister because all he did for eleven months in every year was sit at home and then just release a single film in the last month.
Akshay Kumar, shown on screen with his face on a Rs1,000 note, should be the finance minister because with the money he makes he could finance almost the entire population.
“Slumdog Millionaire” star Freida Pinto would do well in the post of minister for overseas and foreign affairs because she knew exactly how to start an affair abroad, Irani jested.
Always on the defensive, Salman Khan would make the ideal defence minister and Malika Sherawat could occupy the new position of minister for the upliftment of the downtrodden.
Others in the Irani/Deshmukh cabinet would be Sunny Deol as law and transport minister ; Yash and Aditya Chopra of ‘Punjab Power’ fame for their film “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” as joint power ministers; and Viveik Oberoi as telecommunications minister because he knew how to make calls quickly when necessary.
Kal Kiss….sounds like something we would rather do today. Since the film had the word ‘kiss’ tucked into its title, we waited patiently for the young couple to share at least one chaste kiss.
Alas, the closest debutants Jaccky Bhagnani and Vaishali Desai come to a kiss is a coquettish collision on the college campus where our simple, robust, prankster hero from Chandigarh, with a few vital tips from his Bebe back home (Archana Puran Singh, wonder how Kirron Kher missed out on this one) teaches the campus b**** a lesson or two in social etiquette and basic good manners.
Bebe did it for Shah Rukh in “Duplicate” and “Om Shanti Om”. “Kal Kissne Dekha” has nothing to give the audience except a two-hour-plus show reel for the newcomer from his indulgent producer-father.
As a vehicle for Jaccky’s aptitude this is a harmless, inoffensive, sometimes fun but never funny (in spite of concerted attempts at humour) vehicle.
Sadly, the audience at the moment is in no mood to indulge the producer-father. It expects much more than just indulgent trivia from large-screen entertainment.
The writing skills displayed in young Bhagnani’s launch pad range from the intentionally funny to the abysmally tacky.
The eye-confectionary is innocuous as long as the simple boy with the innocent smile (with incredibly white over-decalcified teeth) and the campus female-brat fight it out through a primeval mating game interspersed with ‘cool’ songs and dances with enough colours to put a mammoth carnival to shame.
The serious stuff ends up being embarrassing in its clumsiness. Casting Rishi Kapoor as a college professor who moonlights as a terrorist is a bomb of an idea.
Please, yaar! We know Kapoor is the last word in versatility. But you can’t have him smirking under makeup planting bombs randomly all over Mumbai.
‘A Wince-Day’, anybody?
Interpolating extremism in a college romance is an extremely careless thing to do. We can’t have terrorism as a potboiler formula. Worse, we can’t have Riteish Deshmukh as a funny don bumbling all over shopping malls and dance floors with his army of two henchmen, one effeminiate and the other indeterminate. Both hugely annoying, like their boss.
The same is more or less true of the film. While director Vivek Sharma could wring a few moist-eyed scenes from his audience in his film about a friendly ghost “Bhootnath”, the closest we come to any emotion while watching “Kal Kissne Dekha” is impatience.
It’s fine for an indulgent father to throw a party to introduce his son. But must we be invited as peering guests looking desperately for that fun spot in the proceedings where even the music is of the most unpalatable variety?
All said and done, the debutants are easy on the eyes. Vaishali is leggy and moves well to the screechy music. Jaccky conveys the earnestness of the boy next door who will help an old lady across the street with a jig and a smile, hoping some producer is watching his good deed of the day. You never know.

UTV's Hook Ya Crook, which is being directed by David Dhawan, has entered the final stages of its shooting. The film's final schedule is currently in progress in Mumbai, at Film City and should go into post production in two weeks. According to UTV sources, the film is expected to release later this year itself. The leading stars of Hook Ya Crook are John Abraham, Genelia D'Souza, Kay Kay Menon, Shreyas Talpade and Sharad Kapoor.
The cat is out of the bag. Today’s release ‘Kal Kissne Dekha’ would have Riteish Deshmukh essaying the role of an underworld don. In an extended guest appearance, Riteish would also be seen donning different get up in each of his scenes and would add to the fun quotient of the film. Informs a source who had a dekko at the film, “The makers have so far kept this as a secret but the fact is that Riteish has a substantial role in the film. Of course Jackky Bhagnani is the film’s lead but Riteish too has a fantastic role of an underworld don.”
Elaborating more on Riteish’s presence in the film, she adds, “His character is that of someone who is fun loving. He keeps making on and off appearance in the film and brings in a different dimension to the narrative each time around. He is someone who is pretty money minded.”
Vashu Bhagnani, producer of ‘Kal Kissne Dekha’, too confirms around Riteish’s presence and says, “Yes, Riteish has an extended guest appearance in the film but that’s all I can say for now. Anything more would spoil the fun.”
On contacted, the man in picture - Riteish Deshmukh - was initially hesitant to talk about the film.
“I am not too sure how much should I be revealing about my role in the film. I don’t know if you can call it a special appearance or an extended guest appearance or anything of that sort. I am yet to see the final cut of how much of me is actually present in the film”, he says.
On being prodded further, he reluctantly adds, “This character was primarily conceived by my director Vivek Sharma and I primarily followed his vision. Whatever I have done in the movie, it is completely as per Vivek’s instructions. I merely copied him.” - Joginder Tuteja / Sampurn Media

Oscar winning music director A R Rahman was today conferred an honorary doctorate by the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) for his contribution to the field of art and music.
Rahman, who created history by becoming the first Indian to win two Oscars for his composition in ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, was honoured along with noted Urdu scholar Gopi Chand Narang at the 59th convocation of the historic institution.

Bollywood actor Shahid Kapur seems to have become Yash Raj Films' (YRF) favourite. His first venture with the production giant is yet to hit the screens, but the actor has already signed another film with the banner. Shahid's first film with YRF is being directed by Anurag Singh. He has teamed up with Rani Mukerji in the film, which was earlier titled 'Hadippa', which is said to be about cricket.
The second project that Shahid has been signed up for will be actor Parmeet Sethi's directorial debut and he teams up with Anushka Sharma of 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' fame.

The movie is based on Pakistani play Toba Keh Singh, a story which shows the comical side of an Indian mental asylum in 1947, during partition of India. Aamir will be playing a mentally retarded person in the asylum.

According to sources, “Kajol and Kareena have been finalised for Karan Johar’s forthcoming film, which will start once the actors are free from their on-going films.”
The film, which is yet untitled is based on the Hollywood film, Stepmom (1998), starring Susan Sarandon and Julia Roberts. The shooting of the film will begin as soon as Kajol wraps up the shoot of Karan’s My Name Is Khan, opposite Shah Rukh Khan. So how did the casting come about? “Karan, who is directing Kajol in My Name Is Khan is very happy with her work.When queried about Kareena’s presence in Karan’s film, Kareena’s secretary maintained a diplomatic stand and said, “Kareena would never say no to Karan.”
New Delhi, May 4 (IANS) Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan Monday got a notice from the Supreme Court on a plea challenging a judicial verdict allowing 30 percent tax rebate on his income to the tune of Rs.509 million in fiscal 2001-02. A bench of Justice S.H. Kapadia and Justice Aftab Alam sought Bachchan's stand on the lawsuit by the union government's Income Tax Department.
The bench also asked the actor to account for his 2001-02 income and expenditure with appropriate proof and adjourned the matter for final hearing on Oct 28.
The case largely pertains to the actor's income from the popular TV game show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' on Star TV.
The Bombay High Court had allowed the actor to avail the tax relief accepting his plea that as an artist he was entitled to the exemption as per section 80 RR of the Income Tax Act.
The Income Tax Department, however, challenged the high court ruling contending that section 80 RR of the IT Act grants tax rebates only to those artistes who earn either by performing outside the country or receive payment from foreign agencies.
The tax authorities have contended that the TV show was produced by Indian firm Star India Ltd. that renders him ineligible for the tax rebate.
The guards not only failed to recognise her but also suspected her to be underage and stopped her from going inside.
Celina was shooting for 'Paying Guest' in Bangkok and one of the sequences required her along with the other leading ladies Neha Dhupia, Riya Sen and Sayali Bhagat to be dressed in a school uniform.
Why did she choose to hop over to the pub dressed like that?
'First and foremost I had no clue that guards would stop me at the gate. Also, I was in the middle of a sequence and didn't feel like getting in and out of costumes. I was anyways enjoying myself in a school dress and though it may have scandalised quite a few out there, I didn't mind that at all,' Celina told IANS.
'In the first place, it was anyway quite funny to be dressed in a tight white shirt, red and black short skirt, hair band, white socks and black shoes. And then this incident happened where I was denied entry in my own pub. It was as funny as it could have got,' she added.
Celina tried to catch the attention of her dad through the glass pane. She waved at him and shouted along till the time he managed to realise her presence at the pub.
'Imagine his shock at seeing his girl dressed up like this. He was in a meeting with his business associates and they all had a collective expression of disbelief on their faces. My dad just came out, spoke to me for a while, lent me some money for shopping and went back in. He was so sure that he didn't want a girl who may not have been underage but definitely looked like one get into his pub. For him, rules are rules,' she said.
After this, Celina walked into the nearest luxury mall for shopping.
'I made sure that I blew away all the money that I had laid my hands on. I wasn't allowed to get into the pub and I vowed to make up for that lost opportunity,' she said.
Directed by first timer Paritosh Painter and produced by Subhash Ghai, 'Paying Guest' also stars Shreyas Talpade, Ashish Chaudhary, Javed Jaffrey and Vatsal Sheth and Celina says: 'It was back to being school and eight of us were having a rollicking time.'
The film is ready and the release date would be announced after the stand off between producers and multiplexes is resolved.

Last time, while shooting for ‘Azab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’, she got along so well with Ranbir Kapoor that Deepika Padukone had to drop in at the sets unannounced to check if there was something going on between the two.Now, when Kaif and Imran Khan have been signed on by Sanjay Gandhvi for his next film, a romantic comedy, the two stars have already begun bonding even though the film is yet to go on the floors.

Seems that the company has paid a huge sum to get the actor to play the role of two different characters, and sure enough Ranbir looked surprisingly comfortable in both roles.
All the more, Ranbir is all praises for the company and says, “Being associated with the Panasonic family is definitely a big honor for me and also a big responsibility knowing that it’s such a global plan…marketing such a big product…it gives me such great privilege and honor just to be associated with the family of Panasonic.”

Sources of Mid-Day revealed the actress has indeed agreed to shoot a nude sequence for the film, which her character demanded.
Kangana has tested the dangerous waters of explicit scenes many times before and that too very esthetically. The actress had appeared in controversial yet stunning shot in Daboo Ratnani’s recent calendar, which had created quite a rukus in the wider community. One may also recall that she shot for the much talked about wardrobe malfunction scene for her role in Madhur Bhandarkar’s award winning Fashion. Not to forget the semi-nude scene she did for Raaz – The Mystery Continues.
After looking back at all that she has tried and triumphed over in recent times one can certainly say that the actress remains professional to the core and all these events are more than justified. One can only imagine the same applied to the Puri Jaganth project.

They say that two swords can’t lie in the same cover and so is true with two Bollywood biggies Aamir Khan and Farhan Akhtar who seemed to have fallen out with each other from their next venture together. Now, Shah Rukh Khan will apparently replace Aamir Khan in this next Farhan Akhtar-Ritesh Sidhwani venture.
Inside sources say that Ritesh approached Aamir with a script on the sets of ‘3 Idiots’ but they had such a major disagreement over payment and percentages that Ritesh left the sets in a huff. Aamir demanded an exhorbitant amount for the movie together with a hefty share of the percentage.
Ritesh confirmed that he had talks with Aamir which failed. He also confirmed that they were looking for another actor, but if it was SRK or someone else would be revealed in good time. Aamir on the other hand said that the money was not the issue. It was the script which he didn’t like.
It may be mentioned here that Aamir, Farhan and Ritesh have given a smash hit with ‘Dil Chahta Hai’, but the viewers won’t get to see the trio re-create their magic, or so it seems.
